Detailed itinerary of the 10 days Rushaga Gorillas & Wildlife Tour

Day 1: Entebbe/Kampala-MFNP-Murchison Falls National Park
Day 1 of your 10 days Rushaga Gorillas & Wildlife Tour begins with early morning breakfast and after, meet your professional Uganda safari guide for a warm welcome and greeting. Leave the hotel facility in Entebbe/Kampala city after briefing and take Kampala-Gulu Highway, about 6 hours’ drive journey.

At Nakasongola district, en-route stopover visit will be made at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for an amazing Rhino Tracking experience taking your about 2 hours of on-foot walk. This on-foot-walk expedition lets you see more than just rhinos but also diversity of mammals and bird species. After, travel to Masindi Town to enjoy the best of your lunch at a hotel. Get into Murchison Falls National Park via the Southern gate, present the necessary documents to be allowed entrance and then proceed to check into your lodge.

Day 2: Murchison Falls Game drive & afternoon Nile Launch trip
A tasty breakfast early morning and then set off for 3-4 hours’ Game viewing expedition via the Northern section of Murchison Falls National Park. The Northern section of MFNP is comprised of dotted borassus palm trees, savanna grassland, acacia trees etc and the notable species of wildlife to keep an eye on range from leopards, African bush elephants, buffaloes, lions, warthogs, Jackson’s Hartebeest, Oribis, the Rothschild giraffes to numerous birds.

A short break be made for lunch and followed by afternoon Victoria Nile Launch trip taking you about 2-3 hours. The boat cruise experience comes with astonishing sightings of the Nile Crocodiles, Hippos, water birds including horn bills, Egyptian geese, bee-eaters, kingfishers to herons. Get at the bottom of Murchison Falls to have the best pictures of this beautiful natural wonder and shortly, vacate the boat ready to take 45 minutes hike to the top of the falls.

Witness this world’s powerful waterfall squeeze itself into a narrow rock of 8m before falling 45m forming a powerful roar and a permanent rainbow. Meet your driver guide after photo shoot and then be transferred back to the lodge for evening dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Travel to the Primate Capital of the World-Kibale Forest N/Park
A hefty breakfast and after, travel to The Primate Capital of the World-Kibale Forest National Park (KFNP), about 7 hours’ drive road trip. Explore the beautiful countryside characterized by breathtaking landscape from the Albertine rift escarpment, homesteads from Hoima, scenic vegetation. Arrive at Fort Portal city to have a brief lunch break, enjoy the splendid Rwenzori Mountain ranges’ landscapes on the background. After, connect to your lodge at Kibale Forest N.Park for overnight stay.

Day 4: Chimp Tracking Expedition-Kibale & travel to Queen Elizabeth NP
Breakfast early and after, go get briefed about Kibale chimpanzee rules and regulations from 7:00am-8:00am. Begin your chimpanzee tracking adventure at 8:00am with a guide and this will cover 2-4 hours but expect the best of your Uganda primate safari experience. Kibale National Park is a home to all 13 primate species and spans up to 795sq.kms, protecting not only chimpanzees but also several primates, forest birds, reptiles etc.

After 1 hour of close interaction with Kibale chimps, start walking back to the lodge to have lunch and rest. Later in the afternoon, you will be driven to Queen Elizabeth National Park (QENP) in the western part of Uganda, about 3 hrs from Kibale.

Day 5: Queen Elizabeth Game drive & Boat Cruise experience
Breakfast early and after, you have the best of Queen Elizabeth Game drive experience along Kasenyi track. For 2-4 hours of game viewing, the interesting wildlife sightings today will be mainly on species such as elephants, lions, buffaloes, leopards, birds, antelope families etc. Retreat for lunch break after your game expedition.

Later in the afternoon, expect the best of Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise experience. This will last you 2-3 hours, taking you through incredible sightings on Hippos, Nile Crocodile along other species like buffaloes, water bucks etc; birds. After your long day wilderness experience, return to have dinners 7 overnight stay.

Day 6: Maramagambo Forest Walk & Kyambura Gorge Chimp Tracking
Have breakfast early in the morning and after, embark on a guided Maramagambo Forest Walk to sight diversity of bird species, primates and flora. Walk back to enjoy a relaxed afternoon lunch and after, you will go enjoy Chimpanzee Trekking experience in Kyambura Gorge. If you are still fit, you will have enjoyable evening game drive.

Day 7: QENP-Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Breakfast early and after, travel to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (BINP)-about 3 hours’ drive via Ishasha sector. Along Ishasha area, expect to observe the rare tree climbing lions and proceed to BINP, a home to 120 mammal species including half of all 1063 mountain gorilla population. Your road trip to Bwindi includes en-route lunch then you have overnight stay at the lodge around Rushaga region.

Day 8: Gorilla Trekking & Batwa experience-Bwindi N/P
Have a cup of coffee/tea and after, gather at Rushaga area for briefing about gorilla trekking rules. You will be allocated to anyone of the 9 habituated gorilla families in Rushaga to track starting at 8:00am with park guide. Rushaga gorilla trek is unpredictable experience and expect to take 2-6 hours which includes 1 hour of observing mountain gorillas. Today before you leave your lodge for briefing, carry some packed lunch & bottled water. Get back to have refreshing lunch at a lodge at Rushaga and later, go for the Batwa cultural experience.

Day 9: Wildlife safari to Lake Mburo National Park
Enjoy early morning breakfast and after, you have 7 hours’ drive trip to Lake Mburo N/Park in Kiruhura district, Western Uganda. Lunch be served in Mbarara and you proceed to Lake Mburo, a home to about 350 bird species and varied mammal species including the Rothschild giraffes, topis, lion, buffaloes, zebras etc. Today, you will have the best of Lake Mburo boat cruise experience which gets you exposed to hippos, crocodiles, water birds along side several other mammal species.

Day 10: Back to Kampala/Entebbe from Lake Mburo-4hrs’ drive
Breakfast early and vacate the lodge at Lake Mburo ready to undertake early game drive. Your sightings in Lake Mburo N/P include zebras, common warthogs, impalas, Rothschild giraffes, birds, lion, buffaloes, leopard etc. After, drive to Kampala but have a stopover at Equator & lunch at a hotel in Masaka city, reaching to Kampala/Entebbe late in the afternoon.
